Cathi was born in Sussex, England in 1957. Whiting gained an honors degree at Winchester School of Art, concentrating on illustrative printmaking, primarily on serigraphy and lithography, along with etching and relief printing. She subsequently set up her own atelier in Lincoln. In 1981, she went to work with the Peter Morson Studio. Quickly after, she moved to Rosenstiels of Chelsea where she started to produce her own prints and various design work. Her work was soon discovered and taken up by galleries all over the U.S., as well as Spain, France, England, and Japan.
Whiting also spent seasons in Cote d’Azur, taking in the light of the Mediterranean. She paints sensations of color that play with the effects of light. Her images are intense visual experiences.
